GoDaddy Ignores Abuse Dot Com

Please note that this site is not in any way affiliated with GoDaddy, but is operated independently and created to document the behavior of GoDaddy's Abuse Desk in handling enforcement of their Terms Of Service and Acceptable Use Policies.  We do not allow advertising or get any form of compensation from running this page.

The Background

Every ISP on the planet has (or should have) an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) or Terms Of Service (TOS) that every one of their users agrees to follow when they sign up for services.  Most TOS/AUPs say that you can't use the provider's services for things like abuse, harassment, spamming, etc.

GoDaddy has their hosting policies here.  In particular, Section 2 under "YOUR OBLIGATIONS" has a very specific list of what you can and can not do.

The Problem

GoDaddy refuses to enforce their TOS/AUP policies, even if the abuses are in plain sight and well documented.  Specific individuals use GoDaddy's hosting services knowing full well they can harass, intimidate, and abuse with imputy and without reprocussions.

As seen on the NoDaddy Forums, it also appears that GoDaddy is willing to turn a blind eye to spam and abuse if customers are willing to pay a non-refundable 'administration fee'.

What We Are Looking For

GoDaddy needs to start being a good 'Net Citizen and enforcing the agreement their lawers charged large chunks of change to write.  The TOS/AUP is a binding agreement and very specific, so excuses about reprocussions about terminating customers is a pile of bull.

In particular, Texas has laws regarding online harassment and abuse (Sec 33.07).  GoDaddy could easily and without hassle terminate abusive customers that originate from Texas, but once again, chooses not to.

How GoDaddy Customers Can Help

If you are a GoDaddy customer, speak with your money.  Talk to your service or sales representative and express your concern over their lack of action regarding customers who abuse and harass others.  GoDaddy is more likely to listen to the people who pay then just random server administrators.

Contacting GoDaddy's Abuse Desk

GoDaddy's secret abuse desk phone number is +1-480-624-2505.  If you have been the victim of abuse from someone on GoDaddy's hosting services, CALL THEM.  It is easy for them to ignore e-mails, but a call forces them to listen to your story.

Why Was This Site Hosted On GoDaddy's Servers?

We were attempting to determine weather or not GoDaddy will selectively enforce their TOS/AUP on customers.  If they had terminated this site, they will have proven to us that they do have the ability to enforce their TOS/AUP at their whim, but are opting to not and are willing to allow abuse to continue and turn a blind eye.

The reason why this site is no longer hosted on GoDaddy is that there are better people/places/providers to spend the few bucks a month on.
